The glasses themselves can be a bit awkward.
The originals don’t have lenses, though others (of course purchased as upgrades) are designed in a more mainstream style by partnering with Luxottica Group. These more familiar styles definitely temper the attention while walking around with space-aged looking equipment across your brow. Though, all that being said, it’s amazing what they’ve been able to package in such a small space.
When it’s all said and done, it’s all about the experience.
The user interface, mainly driven by finger swipes to the body of the device, is still a bit clunky, but reasonably intuitive. Forward swipe ahead, go back with a swipe backwards, and exit with a swipe down – pretty simple. But the key to the devices eventual acceptance will be the app community. Currently there are a few dozen apps available for the explorer community, which we believe only touches on the potential of the concept. The concept is rife with potholes on its way to becoming mainstream, but the potential is definitely there for something that could yet again change the way that information flows, and continually leads to a more informed consumer.
